Dragons slayed by committed Brothers
The Brothers U16 team soundly defeated the new Western Suburbs outfit in oppressive conditions at Mike Carney Toyota Park on Saturday afternoon.
The final score of 31-0 reflected the domination of the Brothers team who kept the Dragons scoreless for the entire game.
The first half saw the boys testing each other, looking for weaknesses. The tide soon turned when Tight head Prop Charlie Betcher broke from the ruck and ploughed through the Dragons defence to open the scoring early in the first half.
Despite being down on players, Brothers were led around the park by flyhalf Sam Doyle who had a great passing game and scored 2 tries as well as providing the last pass for an excellent try to Louka Demopoulis. Charlie Betcher also excelled with 2 tries of his own in a game highlighting his strength and speed.
Fullback Ryan Kinbacher led the boys gallantly on the day and his game featured some tough defence.
A special mention to Zac Gough who played out of position ( and out of his skin) after the heat took its toll on the nimble halfback Matty Lorenz.
A massive thank you to Thomo for coaching on the day and to Tony Lorenz for running the lines and to Ronan Betcher for keeping the boys hydrated with that iced water!
